Student Photographer / Videographer

Position Summary 

The Student Photographer / Videographer photographs events for the UCI Paul Merage School of Business and for handles related photo requests. Depending on interest and availability, student can serve as a second camera person on video shoots, b-roll videographer, and as a video editor. Must be a highly motivated, outgoing and enthusiastic individual looking to gain experience in both event and creative photography and video production/post-production. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Serve as a member of the Merage School marketing and communications team.
• Shoot, edit, and correct photos for Merage School programs, events and school communications.
• Update server archive of Merage School photography assets.
• Occasionally serve as a second videographer, b-roll videographer, or video editor.
• Experience in digital photography with a creative eye for lighting, angles, composition, continuity, depth of field, portraiture, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of photography fundamentals, such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc.
• Basic knowledge of video production and post-production fundamentals a plus. Some video production training can be provided.
• Capable of correcting and cropping images in Adobe Photoshop. Knowledge of basic editing in Adobe Premiere Pro helpful.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrates good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Displays a positive attitude with customers and coworkers and takes pride in work.

Required Qualifications 

• Must be a currently enrolled UCI student.
• Must own or have unrestricted access to a quality DSLR capable of documenting events. Equipment is not provided for photo shoots. Some equipment may be provided for video shoots.
• Must own or have a subscription to professional photo correction software.
• Must be able to be on time, prepared to work and adhere to department dress code and university policies.
• Must be available for occasional weekend shoots and evening events outside of normal 8-5 business hours.
• Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs properly.
• May be requested for nearby off-campus shoots that require travel to the shoot location.
