Security Risk and Compliance Assistant

Job Description

The UCI Office of Information Technology’s Security Risk and Compliance team identifies, advises, and manages security risk, leads the development and implementation of policies and practices to protect data, helps assure compliance with law and policy and supports campus-wide training and awareness programs. This position reports to the Security Risk and Compliance supervisor, within the Office of Information Technology. 

This position provides exposure to the field of Information Security risk management, compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002) and related projects and technologies. The successful candidate will also gain exposure to information security assessments and audits, cyber risk management procedures, applications and tools used to protect a large organization with diverse stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

Security Awareness Training Program Support

  • Assist with execution of phishing simulations and prepare reports on outcomes
  • Support planning and execution of security awareness events and initiatives

Security Website Support

  • Update existing and create new web page content.
  • Work with subject matter experts to update, develop and post content to sites for a range of audiences (e.g., faculty, staff and students).

Security Risk Assessment Support

  • Participate in facilitated risk assessment meetings and assist with documentation and other supporting tasks.
  • Produce status reports and trend analysis.
  • Track risk remediation progress.
  • Update and maintain data in the enterprise security governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) platform.

General

  • Monitor work intake channels (e.g., ServiceNow) for team.
  • Attend and document meetings.
  • Collaborate with groups across UCI’s Office of Information Technology and beyond
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

$16.50-$19 per hour depending on experience 

Up to 19 hours per week in Fall, Winter, Spring. Up to 40 hours per week during Summer. 

This role will primarily be remote. 

Students may remain in a student position as long as they are enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. Student positions terminate at the end of the quarter in which the student graduates, unless graduating in the spring. Spring graduates may work up until the beginning of the fall quarter. 

This role is open to both work study and non-work study candidates.
