Student Parking Enforcement Representative

Student parking enforcement representatives assist the campus community and campus visitors navigate the university parking system. Duties include but not limited to: 

  • Issuance of citations per University Parking and Traffic regulations and California Vehicle Code
  • Conduct LPR parking enforcement on campus and in off campus Housing lots
  • Impound abandoned and illegally parked bicycles as outlined in the University Policy and CVC
  • Issue “We Notice” stickers as warnings to vehicles and bicycles for various issues
  • Perform bicycle registrations
  • Responding to calls for motorist assistance services (jump starts, lockouts, gas can service, flat tire assistance)
  • Conducting utilization studies
  • Giving directional information and performing traffic control duties.
  • Participate in DMV placard abuse investigations.
  • Direct vehicular/pedestrian traffic and assist in emergency response for campus emergencies.
  • Assist with vehicle immobilizations and impounds.

Qualifications:

  • Experience interacting with a diverse population in a high-volume, customer-focused work environment providing excellent customer service.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills to sometimes interact with difficult, resistive and hostile individuals.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with fellow coworkers. Experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex policies and regulations to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with general direction.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid and frequent changes in operating practices and working environment.
  • Experience using a computer and MS Office applications.
  • Must work outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
  • Must be willing to work around moving vehicles (on roadways and in parking lots).
  • Must wear department-issued uniform.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license
  • Ability to follow proper radio protocol
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as it relates to DMV registered owner information (CLETS training)
  • Must pass LIVESCAN background check upon hiring
