Student Laboratory Assistant (Loudon)

Under supervision incumbent performs operational level work in a research laboratory.The work will include picking leaves from plants in a greenhouse and processing them to generate testing material for capturing pests. The incumbent will also help with routine maintenance tasks (organizing materials, doing dishes). Incumbent will also need to perform some basic data manipulation tasks such as entering data into spreadsheets, digitizing video recordings, etc. Incumbent may perform other general laboratory maintenance using laboratory safety procedures. Incumbent will enter data from experiments using basic computer skills.

REQUIRED:
Basic computer skills - must be able to turn computer on, start applications, locate files in folders, save files to folders, close computer down properly. Must be willing to work in the greenhouse. Must be reliable, responsible, flexible with tasks, and trustworthy, and work well with other lab members. Able to follow instructions and ask questions when needed. Must be able to communicate (via email or Slack) in a timely manner.
