SCRC Core Facility - Work-Study Student

The Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) Flow and Mass Cytometry Core is recruiting for a work-study student to perform general administrative and laboratory maintenance tasks for the core. This opportunity will allow the student to learn basic to intermediate laboratory skills as well as facilitate the research projects conducted by various faculty via fluorescence activated cell-sorting (FACS) and mass cytometry (CyTOF). 
Duties Include:
- Administrative tasks:
• Keeping track of orders and submitting paperwork
• Assisting with emails
• Organizing inventory
• Resupply as necessary
-Lab tasks:
• Making solutions such as 70% ethanol, 10% bleach
• Autoclaving sheath tanks, culturing sheath fluid to check for sterility 
• Cleaning and maintaining functionality of the equipment
• Troubleshooting equipment as necessary
• Run samples under supervision

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a UCI undergraduate with a work study award. Must be attentive to detail, can follow written and oral instructions and follow lab safety procedures.  Must also be comfortable with lifting at least 20 kg/44 lbs and handling animal/human samples. Can do basic calculations with concentrations and use Microsoft Office suite with familiarity. Please upload proof of work-study awards along with resume.
