About the Samueli School of Engineering Professional Programs
The Samueli School of Engineering has two Professional Master’s programs; Master of Engineering and Master of Embedded and Cyber Physical Systems.
The Master of Engineering (M.Eng) program goes beyond technical training and prepares its graduates for employment in industry and maximizes career opportunities. Students acquire integrative knowledge of systems, as well as hands-on training and experience. The M.Eng program can be completed in 9-15 months. The Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurship course delivers innovative and strategic coursework to train students on the intricacies of leading as an engineer. The Capstone Project is a hand-on experiential learning opportunity that gives students the opportunity to lead, manage, innovate, and explore. The M.Eng program is the perfect degree for engineers who want to become leaders, whether technical managers or entrepreneurs. The courses offer concentrations in Advanced Manufacturing, Biomedical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
The Master of Embedded and Cyber Physical Systems (MECPS) is a full-time program lasting four quarters plus summer at the University of California, Irvine. Coursework includes eleven foundational courses with lectures and laboratory, and two project courses leading to a final project. Courses emphasize embedded systems: hardware and software, sensor networks, real-time systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, security, control and entrepreneurship. To earn the degree, students must complete 48 units including a capstone project. Courses are offered in technology-enhanced form.
