WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Environmental Health Scientist, you will:

• Consult with cooperative agreement recipients, lead Technical Project Teams, and work with subject matter experts to address public health implications of exposures to environmental contaminants.
• Participate in the development of public health assessments, consultations, and/or related activities concerning potential or actual adverse health effects associated with exposure to chemicals and hazardous substances.
• Provide guidance on evaluating the public health impacts of human exposure to harmful substances in the environment.
• Participate in public meetings, workshops, webinars, and committee meetings that relate to hazardous substance exposure, environmental, or public health issues.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications: Education-Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

AND

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

• Evaluating environmental health issues using community health education.
• Evaluating and/or managing grants and/or cooperative agreements involving environmental health issues or other environmental hazards associated with hazardous waste sites and facilities.
• Providing technical advice pertaining to environmental science and related fields.
