Marketing Communications Student Assistant

The UC Irvine School of Education (SoE) Marketing + Communications team is seeking a creative, organized and motivated student assistant to support the school’s communications and marketing efforts. The position reports directly to the Director of Communications and is a great opportunity for an undergraduate student interested in gaining hands-on experience in marketing, social media, content creation, design and storytelling in a professional higher education setting. 

The work environment is collaborative, creative, and often fast-paced, so we’re looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and excited to contribute across a variety of projects.

  • Hours: Approximately 10–12 hours per week during the academic year
  • Eligibility: Work-study preferred
  • Timeline: This position is intended to continue through the 2026–27 academic year
  • Start Date: We are recruiting now with the goal of onboarding and training for Fall 2026
  • Summer: Limited summer work may be available depending on project needs and student availability

All undergraduate majors and experience levels are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Design and support the production of SoE marketing materials, including: 
    • Digital graphics
    • Flyers
    • Invitations, 
    • Social media assets 
  • Create, edit, and resize digital graphics for social, web, and print while following brand guidelines. 
  • Help monitor and post to SoE social media channels. 
  • Support content planning, brainstorming, and creation for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and SoE website.
  • Capture photo and/or video content at events, programs and school activities. 
  • Assist with interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and storytelling for marketing and social media use. 
  • Organize, upload and maintain content libraries. 
  • Write or help draft: 
    • Social media captions
    • Short newsletter stories
    • Website copy
    • Event or promotional content
