Industrial Engineer Data Analyst Intern-HSE
About the Internship
The Data Analyst Intern will support the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team by collecting, analyzing, and reporting safety and environmental data to support compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in safety analytics, reporting dashboards, and operational metrics within an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, clean, and analyze HSE-related data including incident reports, near-misses, inspections, audits, and training records
Develop dashboards and recurring reports to track key safety and environmental performance indicators (KPIs)
Support trend analysis to identify leading and lagging indicators, root causes, and areas for improvement
Assist with regulatory compliance reporting and documentation (OSHA, EPA, company policies)
Collaborate with HSE professionals to translate data insights into actionable recommendations
Support digitalization initiatives for safety reporting tools and systems (e.g., SharePoint, Power BI, Excel, SAP, EHS platforms)
Prepare presentations and summaries for leadership and operational teams
Maintain data integrity and ensure accurate documentation of HSE metrics
Qualifications
Required:
Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing degrees currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data visualization)
Basic knowledge of data analysis, statistics, or business intelligence concepts
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
