Student Worker - 

 

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is currently seeking student workers. This position reports to the Business Office Analyst. Students will receive on-site training in the department practices, procedures, and safety protocol.

 

The Student Worker is a front-facing, service focused position. Student workers will be greeting and directing visitors, and complete light office work.  The daily tasks may change from quarter to quarter based upon department needs. 

 

Schedule

 

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offices are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. This position requires students to be available to work four-hour shifts. Weekly hours range from 8 to 16, depending on departmental needs. Schedules will be coordinated based on both department requirements and students' class schedules. 

 

8:00 am – 12:00pm

1:00pm – 5:00pm

 

 

Position Requirements

 

Candidates should be attentive to detail, organized, comfortable taking notes and working for short periods unsupervised. 

 

  • Availability of covering two shifts a week
  • Experience operating a multifunction copier
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read campus map 
  • 2025-2026 Work-Study

 

Preferred but not required

 

  • Previous on-campus department support experience 

 

Job Duties 

 

  • Provides coverage of the front desk and greets visitors in a courteous, polite and professional manner

 

  • Answers basic questions and/or refers visitors to the appropriate point of contact or resource

 

  • Takes accurate messages as needed

 

  • Responds to work related emails

 

  • Coordinates the reception/desk area and maintains orderliness of all associated spaces

 

  • Distributes mail to the appropriate mailbox

 

  • Maintains office supplies, copiers

 

  • Keeps work rooms organized

 

  • Attend work-related orientations, trainings, workshops, and events as required

 

  • Scans documents and saves them following naming conventions

 

  • Completes assigned training(s) in UC Learning Center

 

  • Update department display cases

 

  • Post event advertisements throughout campus 

 

  • Assists with special projects and other assignments as required

 

 

Daily duties are subject to minor changes based upon class requirements or needs throughout the year.

Pay Rate

  • $16.90
