UCI CARE Undergraduate Student Assistant - Outreach

UC IRVINE CARE STUDENT ASSISTANT - CAMPUSWIDE EDUCATION & OUTREACH

Position Summary:

Supervised by CARE Professional Staff, student assistants will assist in the maintenance, development, and implementation of CARE programs and services. Each student assistant will focus their work on campuswide education and outreach. This position is a year-long appointment expected to work about 8-10 hours a week during the entirety of 2025-2026 academic year, not including academic breaks, and will be compensated at the rate of $16.50 per hour. This position is eligible for work study. 

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Student Assistant for Campuswide Education and Outreach will assist in the planning and implementing of ongoing programming to prevent violence on campus with the goal of creating lasting cultural change. Programming will include, but may not be limited to, workshops, events and trainings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and assist in the development of prevention practices and resources through a lens of social justice, cultural competence, intersection of identities, and empowerment of historically marginalized and underserved populations.
  • Participate in campus and community events that promote respectful relationships and prevention of violence.
  • Provide oversight for the planning and implementation of Take Back the Night and the Clothesline Project.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of large scale campus programming, such as Green Dot Bystander Intervention, Take Back the Night, menCARE, tabling/outreach events and others.
  • Support onboarding and training of quarterly interns.
  • Support the collection, organization, analysis and reporting of evaluation data.
  • Conducting research summaries and literature reviews in order to support office knowledge of current trends and research in violence prevention field.
  • Contributing content for the CARE newsletter and social media accounts.

Minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at UC Irvine.
  • Flexibility and willingness to engage in new processes.
  • Skills related to management of short- and long-term projects.
     

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Anticipated graduation date of Spring 2026 or later.
  • Strong communication skills, including among teams, public speaking, and written communication.
  • Understanding of Google Suite, Canva, Social Media Platforms, and/or Project Management Systems.
  • Experience with material creation, data analysis, and audio/video editing.
  • Understanding of bystander intervention techniques, dynamics of power-based personal violence, holistic healing, and on-campus or local support resources.
  • Skills related to the critical analysis of resources to ensure consistency, congruence to mission, and safety for clients.

 

Hours/Schedule: 8-10 hours per week, not including academic breaks.

Wage: $16.50 per hour. This position is eligible for work study.
