Internships and Career Experiences Student Assistant
The Student Assistant will support the Assistant Director of Internships and Career Experiences in the administration and coordination of the UNI STU 193 Internship Course and related career experiential learning programs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive student interested in gaining hands-on experience in early career/internship programming, higher education administration, program coordination, and career services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Internship Course Administration (UNI STU 193):
- Assist with preparing and organizing course materials for each academic quarter
- Support course setup in Handshake, Canvas and other platforms
- Grade student assignments based on provided rubrics throughout the quarter
- Track student progress and communicate with enrollees as needed
- Assist with the enrollment and approval process for students requesting to join the course
2. Communication & Student Support:
- Monitor and manage the Internships inbox; respond to student and employer inquiries or route them appropriately
- Support communication efforts including email updates, reminders, and resource sharing
3. Program & Project Support:
- Provide assistance in executing internship and career experiences events and initiatives
- Support project tracking and documentation for ongoing internship-related programs
- Assist with data entry, record maintenance, and generation of simple reports related to internship course and program metrics
4. Platform Support (Handshake & Others):
- Assist in reviewing and vetting internship postings submitted to the Handshake platform
- Support employer outreach efforts as needed, including research or follow-up communication
5. General Administrative Support:
- Attend regular check-in meetings with supervisor
- Maintain organized digital files and assist with document management
- Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the internship and career experiences team

Technical & Digital Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Trello, and/or Google Workspace
- Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas)
- Basic experience using databases or platforms like Excel, Trello, or similar tools
- Comfort learning new platforms such as Handshake

Additional Requirements & Preferred Candidate Criteria:
- Work-Study Eligible Student Only
- Ability to work 7-12 hrs/week during the academic year

- Preference to freshman, sophomore, &/or junior applicant
