Job Description
The Practicum Assistant supports the delivery of vital student advising and administrative services.
On the student-facing front, this position will assist with student advising appointments, respond to student correspondence, search confidential student information in WebAdmin and present student-focused workshops.
On the administrative front, this position assists with data entry and management, the creation of advising, social media and other promotional content, support Student Affairs events and complete special projects related to Public Health Student Affairs and Practicum.
Additional duties as assigned.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student to work closely with the Practicum and Public Health Student Advising staff and develop a broad and strong skill set relevant to many future graduate school and career opportunities in Public Health-related fields.
We are looking for a student who can commit through the end of Spring 2026 (with the possibility of working over the summer)
Minimum Qualifications
- Major within the Public Health School
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (experience with Microsoft Access highly preferred), Canva and Zoom.
- Strong working knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
- Dependable, responsible, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Familiarity with working in an office environment
- Empathetic and sensitive to students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to routinely work independently on assignments, seeking assistance and clarification when needed
- Ability to follow through with assignments on tight deadlines
- Receptive to constructive criticism
- Access to a secure and reliable internet connection
- Access to a secure and reliable laptop or desktop
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with social media management
- Previous experience with graphic design or website design
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Minimum 3-quarter commitment
Work hours
- Available to work between the hours of 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday for 10-15 hours per week
- This position will be in person, with remote work available on a case-by-case basis
- This position will run through June 30, 2026, with the possibility to extend into the next academic year based on funding.
- Anticipated Work-Study for 2025-2026 academic year required (for undergraduate student applicants)
- Pay will be $16.50/hr
