Public Health: Student Assistant - PHIT Ambassador

PHIT Ambassador - Student Administrative Support Assistant 

About this job 

Under the direction of PHIT Staff, the PHIT Ambassador - Student Administrative Support Assistant will provide clerical, administrative, outreach, and event support for the Public Health Informatics and Technology (PHIT) Program office.

Job Duties 

  • Participate in PHIT Program outreach events, such as campus tabling, classroom presentations, information sessions, and more.
  • Assist staff in planning and coordinating student learning and engagement events, such as orientations, workshops, seminars, socials, panels, study hours, office hours, and more.
  • Assist staff in planning and coordinating community events, such as consortium meetings, field trips with prospective students, and more.
  • Share experiences and information on the PHIT Program with students, staff, faculty, community partners, and the general UCI campus community.
  • Create a welcomingenvironment for all visitors, including faculty, department staff, and students, at PHIT events and activities.
  • Contribute to a PHIT blog and social media channels (Instagram, Discord, etc.) to highlight student experiences in the program.
  • Answer general questions related to PHIT policies and procedures from students.
  • Practice critical thinking to navigate various projects assigned by different PHIT staff.
  • Assist in the drafting and creating of program documents, flyers, handbooks, and social media content.
  • Provide administrative support to the PHIT team, such as data entry, filing, answering emails, documenting best practices, etc.
  • Complete special projects related to PHIT as assigned, such as assisting the PHIT Field Coordinator with the PHIT Internship Program.

Qualifications 

  • Willing to take initiative, think outside of the box, and be open tofeedback.
  • Outstanding customer service, including a friendly and helpful attitude.
  • Willingness to engage with the campus community and share their experiences through different modalities (email, Zoom, in-person, social media).
  • Dependable, responsible, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be able to work well independently and in teams.
  • Be able to work well remotely and in-person, depending on departmental needs.
  • Be able to pay attention to details and adapt quickly to changes in processes and information and work towards deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn about new technology.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations is highly desired. We encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM to apply for the role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Zoom, Google Drive, Slack, and Canva is highly desired.
  • A declared Health Informatics minor is preferred.
  • Previous PHIT internship experience is preferred but not required.

 

Work hours: 

  • Available to work between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. Weekend or evening hours may be requested depending on departmental needs.
  • Be able to start the position as early as 09/23/2024
  • This position will be hybrid with both in-person and remote work.
  • This position will run through June 6, 2026
  • Anticipated Work-Study for 2025-2026 academic year preferred; not required.
  • Pay will be $16.00/hr

Part-time: Expected hours will be 5-7 hours per week; more hours may be available depending on departmental needs.
